Harold B. “Harry” Miesen, 94, of Dubuque, formerly of Belmont, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Heritage Manor, Dubuque. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 12, 2015 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont. Rev. Monte Robinson will officiate. Burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Harry Miesen memorial fund. Harry was born on February 3, 1921 in Ashford, Wisconsin, the son of Louis J. and Anna (Bord) Miesen. He was united in marriage to Janice Schmitz on November 19, 1940 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Potosi. She preceded him in death on August 5, 1996. He served in the United States Army during WW II. Harry worked as a cheese maker. Harry managed grocery stores, Walsh's in Muscoda, Brammer's in Dubuque. He owned and operated the IGA store in Fennimore. For 31 years he worked for Knebel's in Belmont as a meat cutter, retiring in 2000. While living in Belmont he also did lawn service for many people. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Philomena Catholic Church. He loved to dance, and was a “Jack of all trades”, where he could fix and make anything. He is survived by his four daughters, Judy (Duane, “Fred”) Roling of East Dubuque, IL; Ann (Jerry) Rennison of Dubuque; Betty (Bob) Sheehan of Maricopa, AZ; Peggy (John) Scott of Loveland, CO; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren with one on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Joe Loeffelholz, sister and brother-in-law, Irene and Ray Digman, brother and sister-in-law, Emil and Loretta Miesen of Dickeyville. The family would like to thank Heritage Manor, especially the nurses and aids for the loving care they gave Dad. A special thanks to Hospice of Dubuque for their care and support.
