Colly was born on September 10, 1932 in Big Patch, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Veronica (Gable) Slack. She graduated from Platteville High School. Colly met and married Robert “Nick” Nicholson on September 19, 1949 and they shared 64 amazing years together. He preceded her in death on April 28, 2014. She worked as a CNA at the Platteville Hospital for a number of years. She then became a dental assistant for Dr. Richard Doeringsfeld for 15 years before retiring with her husband to Florida, where they spent almost 20 wonderful years before returning to Platteville in 2006. Colly is survived by her children, Jill (Jim) Crawford of Key Largo, FL; Jerry (Barb) Nicholson of Platteville; three grandchildren, Derek Crawford of Key Largo, FL; Cheri (Jeff) Bengsch of Milwaukee, WI; and Lisa Banfield of Platteville; three great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jessica, and Caitlynn Banfield, all of Platteville; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Nick; infant son, Chet; sister, Geraldine Williams; and brother-in-law, Frank Williams. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Gray's Nursing Home for their excellent care of Colly. Special thanks to physicians' assistant, Nancy Swales, for her comfort and care. “God saw you were getting weary, the hill to steep to climb, he put his arms around you, and whispered, peace be thine.”

Dear Nicholson Family, I was sadden to hear the news of Colly's passing. I have such wonderful memories of your parents. Your dad's humor was amazing in quiet sort of way. Your mom's full of life personality would brighten anyone's day! They were special people. The teacher campouts on Memorial Weekends were a neat time to "know" the teachers in a differenet perspective....ha I will cherish the memories I have. Enjoy the story telling between yourselves....they will live on in your hearts. Barb (Heim) Anderson

We think of Colly & Nick as ONE; young love, true love, special people. They were positive, caring people and a total joy! We will especially remember Colly giving us (with Ray & Betty Heim) a short course in manners at the dinner table regarding placement of napkins if you leave the table. This was years ago, but we refer to it still and laugh about fun times together. We are blessed to have enjoyed their friendship through the years! They are at peace and together again. God Bless all of the family.
