Kenneth C. Runde, 75, of Platteville, died on Friday, March 6, 2015 at Greenway Manor, Spring Green, Wisconsin. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2015 at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Fr. Monte Robinson will officiate. Chapel military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday, at the funeral home. Kenneth was born on August 5, 1939 in Lima Township, the son of Earl and Olive (Dunleavey) Runde. He was united in marriage to Ruth Kreiser on September 23, 1988 at St. Clement's Catholic Church, Lancaster. Ken served in the United States Army in the 101st Airborne “Screaming Eagles” Division from October 1, 1957 until September 23, 1959. He worked for Nelson Construction in Cobb, WI, he later worked for Kramer Brothers of Plain, WI; he was very proud of all of the work he did at UW – Platteville. Then from 1979 until his retirement in 2002 he worked as the maintenance superintendent for all of the Dick's Supermarket stores. Ken enjoyed tending to his yard, reading, and helping at Shaefer Farms, Jim & Pat and Terry & Kris Schaefer, helping them with field work. He also enjoyed following his sons in their high school and college activities, as well as, watching NASCAR and the Packers. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Ruth; four sons, Mick Runde; Pat (Kathy) Runde; David (Jen) Runde; Dan (Janet) Runde; their mother, Sandra Wilhelm; stepson, Steven (Jennifer) Uppena; seven grandchildren, Devin, Logan, Kennedy, Isaac, Austin, Laney, and Amanda; great-grandson, Zavion; sister, Joyce (Howard) Hull; brothers, Lloyd (Donna) Runde; Faber (Jeanette) Runde; Everett (Phyllis) Runde; brother-in-law, Merlin (Elizabeth) Kreiser; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends, especially Maggie Oehlke and Paula Trumm. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister.
