Rosemary Anderson

Rosemary S. Anderson, 66, of Platteville died Sunday, March 15, 2015, peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of her life and strong faith will be held at 11 a.m. Platteville United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 28. Visitation will be Friday, March 27 from 4-7pm at the Platteville United Methodist Church.
Rosemary was born March 14, 1949, in Lansing, MI, daughter of Helen and Clarence Steinbach. She graduated from Msr. Gabriels High School in Lansing, MI in 1967 and from Michigan State University in 1970 with a B.A. in History and Education. She was a lifelong Spartan and she didn't let anyone forget it. She met her husband, Max, at MSU and they were married in Lansing on May 22, 1976. She earned a M.A. in Reading and Special Education from Eastern Michigan in 1978.
She worked for the U.S. Dept. of Commerce in Chicago and Detroit for 7 years as an international trade specialist. After moving to Wisconsin in 1979, Rosemary taught at Potosi schools for 3 years and at Platteville High School for 22 years as a Special Education teacher. While teaching at Platteville, she was also a forensics coach, volunteered at track and cross country meets, Prom, and many other school functions. She loved the comradery of the teaching staff, and was a special person to many students whether they had her as a teacher or not. She cared deeply about working with students to help them succeed both in the classroom and in life. Her classroom was a place they came to hang out before and after school, and she made time there very special. After her retirement from teaching, she volunteered at Southwest Hospital and served on the Platteville Library Board. She always stood up for what she felt was right, and continued her passion of trying to make a difference in the world.
Rosemary will be missed by many family, friends, and former students. She is survived by her husband, Max, and sons Christopher of Sioux Falls, SD and Thomas (girlfriend Alice Tipton) of Columbia, MO; her sister, Gloria Strahan (Mike) and her mother, Helen Steinbach of Lansing, MI; aunt Anne Beutler; cousin Nancy Beutler-Abbey (Rick); brother- and sister-in-law Dean and Karen Anderson, Strum, WI; and brother- and sister-in-law Bruce and Sandy Anderson, Midland, MI; brother- and sister-in-law Vern and Sue Anderson, Soldiers Grove, WI; and nephews Tate (Lynn) Anderson, Scott (Ann) Anderson, Brian (Katrina) Anderson, Jared Miller (Monica)and nieces Erin Brantner (David), Sara Heaser (John), Darcy Collicker (Jeff), Amy Homan (Dustin), Kristi Anderson, and Ashley Bermudo (Jobert), Kylie Rogers-Strahan. She was preceded in death by her father, Clarence Steinbach, her uncle Fay Beutler, and her nephew Brad Anderson. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the United Methodist Women at the Platteville United Methodist church or a charity of your choice.
