Rita M. Bardon, 86, of Platteville, formerly of Cuba City, died on Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Southwest Health Center, Platteville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Cuba City, WI. Fr. Dave Flanagan will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a parish wake service at 3:45 p.m, or from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, at the church. Rita was born on May 27, 1928 in Dubuque, IA. She was united in marriage to Clem Bardon on August 21, 1948 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Harpers Ferry, Iowa. He preceded her in death on January 8, 2004. Rita began working at the Platteville Municipal Hospital, which later became Southwest Health Center, as a nursing assistant, ward clerk, and a switchboard operator, as well as, a greeter. She loved to embroider, bake, make large family meals, travel, read, and spend time with her family and friends. She is survived by her children, Jane (Tim) Traver of La Quinta, CA; Denise (William) Robinson of Parker, CO; Ed (Donna) Bardon of De Forest, WI; Julie (Mike) Morse of Appleton, WI; Virginia (Randy) VanNatta of Platteville; Alan (Rene') Bardon of Miamisburg, OH; grandchildren, Josh (Tiffany) Traver; Jenny (Joe) Birkel; Jon Robinson; Danielle (Aaron) Ninness; Jeremy (Erica) Bardon; Jay (Lisa) Bardon; Eric (Laura) Morse; Amy (Dan) O'Connell; Molly (Quinn) Loucks; Mallory VanNatta; Matthew Bardon; and Ashley Bardon; eleven great-grandchildren; half-siblings, Lorraine Lange-Upton of Las Vegas, NV; Dennis May of Waterloo, IA; sister-in-law, Helene May of Santa Barbara, CA. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margie; husband, Clem; grandson, Jared Bardon; and four great-grandchildren.
