Obituary

Jack R. Pross, 62, of Platteville, died on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Southwest Health Center, Platteville. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Deacon Bill Bussan will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, where there will be an Elk's Lodge service at 6:00 p.m., or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be made to the Jack R. Pross Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Jack was born on January 3, 1953 in Platteville, WI the son of Robert Pross and Beverly (Lyght) Pross-Wackershauser. He was united in marriage to Gale Pratt on April 28, 1990 in Cuba City, WI. Jack worked for Dick's / Piggly Wiggly in Platteville for 46 years. He enjoyed watching Platteville High School sporting events, and attending and watching Wisconsin Badger football and basketball games. He also loved buying and selling cars, and driving cars from auctions for car dealerships. Jack also enjoyed Saturday shopping trips with his two sisters, Julie and Jennifer. He is survived by his wife, Gale; son, Jeremy Pross; three siblings, Julie (Brian) Crubaugh; Jeff (Sarah) Pross; Jennifer Pross; step-dad, Henry “Joe” (Barb) Wackershauser; mother-in-law, Grace Pratt; sisters-in-law, Lisa (Jon) Kooiman; Kelly Pratt; three step siblings; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Dennis Pratt; and very special uncle, Frank Pross.

Hi Jeff and Sarah and family, I saw Jack's name in the Telegraph Herald and wondered if he was any relation to my teachers in junior high. Sure enough. I am sorry for the loss of your brother.
