Merlyn Kuehl

Merlyn E. Kuehl, 83, of Platteville, Wisconsin, passed away on March 18, 2015 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, IA. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Saturday, March 21, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Dianne Grace will officiate. Burial will be at Lima Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Merlyn E. Kuehl Memorial Fund. Merlyn was born on March 2, 1932 in Lima Township, the son of Adolph and Mary (Butson) Kuehl. He was united in marriage to Viola Woodward on January 18, 1952 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. Merlyn drove milk truck for a local dairy before taking over the family farm, where he and Viola farmed until his retirement. During this time he also served as a member of the Lima Township Board. He especially enjoyed farming, farmall tractors, and fishing. Merlyn is survived by his wife, Viola; daughters, Kathy (David) Wellsandt of Rice Lake; Patty (Danny) Wellsandt of Platteville; grandson, Mitchell (Molly) Wellsandt; granddaughter, Murphy (Kyle McFall) Wellsandt; sister-in-law, Joan Kuehl; all of Platteville. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Gilbert and Douglas. The family wishes to thank the staff at Southwest Health Center, Mercy Medical Center, and Hospice of Dubuque.
