Obituary

Ralph A. Margan, 83, of Rewey, Wisconsin, died on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at Upland Hills Health, Dodgeville. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. Rev. Faustino Ruiz will officiate. Chapel military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Burial will be at St. John Nepomuc Cemetery, Castle Rock. Friends may call from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a rosary at 3:45 p.m. or from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday at the church. Ralph was born on June 14, 1931 in Harrison Twp., Grant County son of William and Josephine (Langkamp) Margan. He served in the United State Army during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Cecelia Franzen on June 30, 1965 at St. John Nepomuc Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2002. Ralph worked at Southwest Supply, Platteville and later at Ivey Construction, Mineral Point for many years. Ralph worked at Trelay Seeds seasonally. He was a member of the VFW. Ralph enjoyed being known as the “door man” at Bloomfield Manor, rural Dodgeville, where he would help anyone he could. He always enjoyed going to parish festivals and playing bingo. He is survived by three children, Allen of Rewey, WI; Karla of Cobb, WI; Betty of Mifflin, WI; two grandchildren, Ashley and Brittany; great-grandson, Lucas with great-grandson, Lincoln due anytime; brothers, John and Ambrose “Satch” Margan both of Platteville; Paul (Barb) Margan of Cameron, WI; brother-in-law, Francis Abing of Lancaster, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Helen in 1989, sisters, Carol Margan, Margaret Heffron and Mary Abing, brother, Leo Margan.
