Obituary

Francis A. Lipska, 81, of Platteville died on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Agrace Hospice Care, Fitchburg. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Michael Short will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Following the burial a celebration and lunch will be at The Barn. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday or after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Francis A. Lipska Memorial Fund. Francis was born on May 30, 1933 in Grant County, Wisconsin, the son of Edward F. and Nettie A. (Fossbinder) Lipska. He was united in marriage to Beulah C. Shaw on November 12, 1951 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on December 4, 2005. Francis farmed in Platteville Township. He was a partner of Moundview Grain Company, he later owned Lipska Trucking Co.
Francis enjoyed horses, fishing, hunting and traveling. He especially enjoyed the many trips to Canada where he fished and hunted for years. He was a member of the Drift Busters snowmobiling club and he served on the Grant County FSA board.
He is survived by his four children, David (Debra) Lipska of Platteville; John Lipska of Dubuque; Angela (Bill) Novak of DePere, WI; Susan (Tom) Caldwell of Holmen, WI; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Grace Pratt, Wanda (Merv) Hottenstein and Charline Hoppenjan all of Platteville. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Beulah, daughter, Diane Rae Lipska in 1962, grandson, Eddy Lipska in 2009; sisters, Tina Townsend, Mildred Leppi and Phillis Prochaska, brothers, Melvin, Roscoe and infant brother, Henry.
