Gordon “Junior” Ingersoll, 84, of Belmont, died on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Our House Assisted Living, Platteville. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. Rev. Connie Matye will officiate. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Gordon was born on November 23, 1930 in Platteville, the son of Gordon Sr. and Ada (Burkholder) Ingersoll. He was united in marriage to Arlene Mester on May 28, 1949, at Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. She preceded him in death on February 12, 2004.
Junior farmed until 1970 and then worked for the Lafayette County Highway Department for 20 years, until his retirement. Junior and Arlene enjoyed many summers in Chetek, Wisconsin, camping and fishing. He was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, Belmont. He is survived by two daughters, Vickie (Jon) Schellpfeffer of Verona, WI; Marsha (James) Spakowicz of Oshkosh, WI; five grandchildren; Marc (Becky) Schellpfeffer, Amy (Justin) Niemetscheck, Nic (Maria) Schellpfeffer, Sandy (Kevin) Kohfeldt, Dr. Daniel (Dr. Carolyn Presley) Spakowicz; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Joan Edwards of Belmont; brothers, Eugene “Gene” (Betty Jean) Ingersoll of Lancaster, WI; James (Linda) Ingersoll of Baraboo, WI; William (Kathy) Ingersoll of Platteville; brother-in-law, Hubert “Hubie” (Joyce) Mester of Belmont; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sisters-in-law, Sherry Ingersoll and Betty Ewing and brother-in-law, David Edwards. The family would like to Thank the staff of Our House Assisted Living for the eleven years of wonderful care and the staff of St. Jude Hospice for their care given to our father.
