Obituary

Agnes “Una” Macintosh Muir Cerling, 92, of Platteville, passed away on April 30, 2015 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville. A Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Westview Methodist Church. Rev. Paul Glendenning will officiate. Burial will be at Elm Lawn Cemetery, Elmhurst, IL at a later date. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Westview Methodist Church, Platteville, WI. Una was born on August 29, 1922 in Glasgow, Scotland, to Robert and Elizabeth (Macintosh) Muir. She grew up in Elmhurst, IL and graduated from York High School, Elmhurst, in 1940. She worked at Northern Trust Bank, Chicago, for a few years. Una married Charles Edward Cerling in Elmhurst, IL shortly before Charles went to serve in WWII; they were happily married for 39 years. In 1962, they moved from Elmhurst to Belmont, WI, where they farmed for 20 years. Una worked at the Branch Bookstore in Platteville, for many years. She loved to read, sew, and knit. She also enjoyed having her large family for visits. She is survived by her children, Charles (Geri) Cerling; Betty Lou (Gary) Hornbuckle; Eric (Louise) Cerling; Larry (Wanda) Cerling; Timothy (Deborah) Cerling; Kenneth (Dianne) Cerling; Joy (James) Otten; and Kevin (Linda) Cerling; 25 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Scott and an infant son.
