Richard E. Kuhls, 85, of Platteville, died on Friday, June 19, 2015 at Epione Pavilion, Cuba City, WI. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, June 29, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Connie Matye will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Richard was born on October 7, 1929 in Platteville, the son of Harry and Nora (Kamps) Kuhls. He was united in marriage to Geraldine Edge on June 28, 1980 at the Lutheran church in Darlington. Richard farmed for 26 years, after which, he continued to work several jobs within the farming industry, as well as, working as a postal carrier for some time. He also helped establish the company Midwest Bio-Ag. Richard enjoyed bowling, hunting, buying and trading cars, and gambling. He did carpentry work as well; he really was a “Jack of all trades.” He is survived by his wife, Geri; five children, Gary (Connie) Kuhls; Dave (Diana) Kuhls; Ron (Barb) Kuhls; Kathy (Curt) Shager; Barb (Luke) Wedig; four step-children, JoAnn (Tom) Pinch; Pattie (Mike) Jones; Zelda (Greg) Faherty; and Bonny Block; 17 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Marion (Delbert) Dailey; brother, Francis (Donna) Kuhls; two sisters-in-law, Irene (Gene), Carolyn; and brother-in-law Grant (Mary); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Donald (Betty) Kuhls; Robert (Lois) Kuhls; and H. James Kuhls; and step-son, Brian Block; brother-in-law, Charles; two sisters-in-law, Lynn and Georgina.
