Arthur K. Reese, 96, of Platteville, died on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Rev. Michael Short will officiate. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by VFW Post #5274 and American Legion Post #42. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church. Art was born on April 1, 1919 in Cuba City, WI, the son of Chris and Isabelle (Kopp) Reese. He was united in marriage to Florence B. Voigts on December 7, 1942 in Dubuque, IA. They had celebrated 71 years of marriage. He was inducted into the army in 1942 as a tank driver. He fought through the Battle of the Bulge and was wounded in action. He received the Purple Heart, five battle stars, the Silver Star, and many others. In 1945 he began farming in the Belmont and Cuba City area. He also worked at the Dubuque Packing Company for 22.5 years. Arts main interest in life was traveling in his RV and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards and being outdoors. Most of all, he looked forward to visits from his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his three daughters, Shelbe (Robert) Lanam of Fisher, IN; Patricia Zwahlen of Davison, MI; Jane (Bernard) Brandt of Cuba City; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters-in-law; Lorita (Vernelle) Klein; Marian Voigts; and Eileen Yager. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Florence; son, Richard; granddaughter, Jody Brandt; sister, Florence Hamilton; brothers, Delvin, Lester, and Clarence; brothers and sisters-in-law, Blanche Reese, Harold Hamilton, Dorothy Reese, Pat and Mable Chadwick, Viola and Floyd Grunewald; Harold and Ruth Voigts; Orville and Katherine Voigts; and Willard Voigts.
