Obituary

Dr. Alison B. Bunte, 63, died on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at Finely Hospital, Dubuque. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Trinity Episcopal Church, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 12:00 P.M. (Noon) until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Alison was born on January 24, 1952 in Frederick, Maryland, the daughter of Clement and Emily Brooke. She was united in marriage in 1983 to Clyde Bunte in New Haven, Missouri.

She received her Bachelor's Degree from Missouri State University, her Master's degree from the University of Missouri, and Doctorate in Education from Southern Illinois University. She enjoyed a 37-year career in education. Following 20 years of teaching and administration in Missouri and Illinois, she joined UW-Platteville where she served 17 years as a professor in the School of Education and also as associate dean in the College of Liberal Arts and Education. During her tenure at UW-Platteville she was a professor of education, director of CEYA and Director of the UW-Platteville School of Education. Upon her retirement from the University she was named a Professor Emeritus. During her career she was recognized as a leader in middle school education. She was very active with a variety of community services, including PEO, Trinity Episcopal Church, the Platteville Community Fund. She enjoyed cooking, reading, bridge and being involved with the students' scholarship fund.

Alison is survived by her husband, Clyde; two sons, Alex of Chicago and Craig of Madison; one sister, Wendy Brooke of Platteville; two brothers, Clem (Mary Nell) Brooke of Columbia, MO; Geoffrey (Antoinette) Brooke of Belle Mead, NJ. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Dear Clyde, Alex and Craig, I grieve with you over your irreplaceable loss. As you well know, Alison's being among us was a great gift. I'm so thankful to have been among those graced by her presence!
