Gloria Woods

Gloria M. Woods, 66, of Platteville, formerly of Mifflin, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Pastor Doug Tremelling will officiate. Burial will be at Mifflin Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Memorials may be made to the Gloria M. Woods Memorial Fund. Gloria was born on May 31, 1949 in Platteville, Wisconsin, daughter of Leeman and Dorothy (Letcher) Stanton. Gloria graduated from Iowa-Grant High School class of 1967. On November 9, 1968 she was united in marriage to William “Bill” Woods at the Primitive Methodist Church, Mifflin. Before she married Bill she was a nurse's aide at the Hazel Green Hospital. Later she worked at the Mineral Point Care Center and most recently at the Comfort Inn, Dodgeville. Gloria enjoyed cooking, especially making pasty's, “the best in town” and pies. She enjoyed doing embroidery, quilting, especially making baby quilts, and crocheting. She always liked playing cards, especially euchre, she liked to do cross word and word search puzzles. The biggest joy she had though was spending time with her grandchildren.
Gloria is survived by her husband, William of Platteville; three children, Tim of Platteville, and his family, Abby and Parker; Daniel “Bucky” of Columbus, IN and his family Colt and Brandon; Tina (Brian) Metz of Greenfield, WI; daughter-in-law, Cindy Woods of Rewey, WI; two sisters, Peggy Greenburg and Eva (Glenn) Esser of Mifflin; Virgil (Darlene) Stanton of Cuba City, WI; Daniel (Terry) Stanton of Mifflin; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers –in-law, Jim Greenburg and Mike Simmons, nephew, Scott Simmons and great-nephew, Isiah Stanton.
