Boyd Stymiest

Boyd (Bud) Earl Stymiest, 89 years old, of Platteville Wisconsin, passed away Sunday October 18, 2015 with his children at his side. There will be a private service and burial for the family only on Tuesday October 20, 2015 at Melby Funeral Home & Crematory in Platteville, WI. Bud was born January 21, 1926 in Oldham, South Dakota to Mary (Wegner) Stymiest and Lester Stymiest. He grew up on a farm in South Dakota and enlisted in the Navy when he turned 18 years of age. He proudly served his country during WWII for 2 years. He was a proud member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the NRA.
He was united in marriage to Maxine (Tootie) Marie (Teuber) Stymiest on October 10, 1946 and they were married 43 years until her death. Boyd had an extensive career in accounting and public utilities. He spent his career with Rural Electric companies in Miller, South Dakota and Lancaster, Wisconsin. He retired in 1991 from his position as Manager of the REA in Lancaster.
Boyd enjoyed spending time with family. He always enjoyed the outdoors and activities like fishing, hunting, camping, motor cycling, and boating. He spent many of his winters in Texas.

Those left to honor Boyd are his 5 children, Gloria (David) Holmes of Platteville, WI; Karin (Greg) Stephenson of Dubuque, IA; Jeanette “Jean” (Curt) Bradley of Platteville, WI; Richard “Dick” (Lynn) Stymiest of Abram, WI; Michael “Mike” (Mary) Stymiest of Platteville, WI; three siblings, James (Shirley) Stymiest of Streator, IL; Beverly Yost of Miller, SD; and Clair (Elaine) Stymiest of Rapid City, SD; and sister-in-law, Faye Stymiest (Robert's wife); grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike), Brian (Jamie), Michele (Jack), Emily (Chuck), Christopher (Amber), Joel, Nicholas (Melanie), Sarah (Jeremy), Brady, Nathan (Camille), Logan, Eric (Aubrey), Bryson (Attie) and Travis; great-grandchildren, Lindsey, Jalen, Alex, Brooklyn, Nikki, Megan, Broderick, Jared, Alex, Rylan, London, Acadia, Teagan, Bannon, Bevin, Aibhlinn, Ava, Jade, Norah, Joslyn, Jordan, Brayden and Parker; great-great-grandchildren, Lucy and Henry.
Those welcoming him home will be Boyd's parents, his wife, Maxine (Tootie); sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and Edward Huffman; brother, Robert Stymiest; and brother-in-law, Lawrence Yost. Bud was a wonderful loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather.
The family would like to thank his friends at the Platteville Senior Center for their friendships, prayers and compassion. A thank you also goes out to Dr. White and Dr. Engleman offices at Medical Associates; Lori and Pam, from Homeward Bound, and the wonderful staff at Hospice of Dubuque.
