Belmont/Stoughton — Lester L. Speth, Sr., age 83, died Friday November 6, 2015 at St. Mary's Hospital in Madison.
Lester, Sr. was born May 5, 1932 on the family farm to Albert and Lillian Speth. He graduated from Belmont High School and then went to serve our country in the US Army. He farmed and retired in the Belmont area until February 2015 when he and Dorothy moved to Stoughton.
Lester is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Bloom) of 54 years, his two children: Jeff (Sue) Speth, Marshfield, Butch (Julie) Speth, Stoughton and daughter-in-law Pam (Dan Graber) Speth, Mineral Point. His two brothers: Art (Patsy) Maryland, Jim (Darlene Blackburn) Platteville, one nephew Artie (Janice) Maryland and many other nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren: Ben, Joe, Sam (Alicia), Jenny (Marcus) Geishert, Tom, Breanna, Dana, Kaylin and one great granddaughter: Gwendelynn. He is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Lillian Speth and son, Scott.
Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Monday November 9, 2015 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Connie Matye will officiate. Burial will be at the Belmont Cemtery where military rites will be accorded by Hinkins-Moody American Legion Post #453. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. A luncheon will follow at My Turn Pub in Belmont. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Lester's life. Memorials may be made to the Lester L. Speth, Sr. Memorial Fund.
