Obituary

Cynthia Nell “Cindy” Clark, 59, of Platteville died on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Agrace Hospice Care, Fitchburg, after her ten year struggle with breast cancer.

Cindy was born on November 12, 1955 in Rapid City, South Dakota, first child of Herman and Lila Clark. With her father's career in the United States Air Force Cindy and her family moved many times settling in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Cindy graduated from UW-Whitewater in 1977 with her bachelors in special education, where she was a sister in Delta Zeta sorority. Cindy later received her LD Certification in 1981 from UW-Whitewater.

She began her teaching career in 1979 at Winskill Elementary School, Lancaster, Wisconsin. While teaching in Lancaster she was involved in many school and community functions. In 1989 she began teaching at the Platteville Middle School where she taught until her retirement in 2013. While teaching in Platteville she was involved with the community. After her retirement she continued to help students though tutoring and being a substitute teacher.

Cindy was an avid Packer and Cubs fan, she was an Avon representative. Her cats were her fur-butt buddies!
She continued her teaching abilities with her love of needle work and quilting. She taught 4-H, college students, and held seminars. She co-founded Tri-State Needlearts EGA in 1985 in Platteville, which later became a chapter of the National EGA. This fall she received the Golden Thread Award from the Heartland Region EGA for her dedication and contributions in needle work and goals of the EGA. She was also chosen out of the 13 to receive an award from the National Embroidery Guild of America for her past work. Her love of quilting was evident to anyone who was lucky enough to receive a quilt from her. Her second home was the local quilt shop among her fellow quilters. Her love of teaching was in everything she did.

She is survived by her mother, Lila of Sun Prairie; brothers, Fred (Jill) Clark of Nashville, TN; Tim (Donna) Clark of Brussels Belgium, Germany; Jim (Jane) Clark of Sun Prairie; sister, Nancy Clark of Token Creek, WI; nieces, Melissa, Jenny, Christine, and Mindy; nephews, Damien, Alex, Bill, and Charlie; great nieces and nephews; and her cat, Tanner. Cindy was such a wonderful friend & co-worker. There are so many people who have been touched by Cindy's big heart and endless caring. She certainly gets things done when she sets her mind to it! She fought hard battles and is now at peace. Take care and may her memories help you through this difficult time. (Her robust laugh will be one thing that I will always remember-and cherish).
