Steven Craig Buser, 68, of Mineral Point, formerly of Platteville, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Mineral Point, with his cousin and caregiver, Nancy, by his side. Memorials services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Mineral Point. Rev. Mary Ann Floerke will officiate. Burial will be at Memorial Hill Cemetery, Dothan, AL. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.
Steven was born in Brooklyn, New York, on March 18, 1947, the son of Olyn “Gus” and Helen (Williams) Buser. His early childhood was spent in Green Cove Springs, Florida. Being the son of a Navy father, Steve went to many schools in many states. The one he talked about most was Adak, Alaska, at the age of 8. He graduated from Dothan High School, Dothan, Alabama. After high school he joined the United States Navy. He served four years in Vietnam. He was on the USS Forrestal, which suffered a bad fire and many shipmates lost their lives. He then served on the Coral Sea Ship. After his discharge he worked as a heavy machine operator in Florida, until his failing health. He moved to Wisconsin in 2003. In 2012 he went to Atrium Post Acute Care of Mineral Point. He is survived by his Uncle Larry Buser and Aunt Leah Buser of Palistine, IL; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; two cousins, Helen Cullian and Karen Wakefield.
