Obituary

Charlotte M. Cullen, 85, of Platteville, died on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 16, 2016 at the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be at Big Patch Cemetery. Friends may call from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Charlotte M. Cullen Memorial Fund. Online condolences can be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Charlotte was born on July 8, 1930 in Grant County, Wisconsin, daughter of Virgil and Gwendolyn (Shillam) Edge. She was united in marriage to Everett Cullen on March 30, 1963 at the United Methodist Church, Platteville. He preceded her in death in 1988. Charlotte graduated from Platteville High School. She held various jobs throughout her life; along with farming; she worked at UW-Platteville in food service and Speth's Processing Plant. Later she worked at Governor Dodge in laundry service for many years, as well as, driving many of her friends and neighbor children to various appointments and taxiing them around. She was a 4-H leader of the Frankline Live Wires for many years and a member of the Lutheran Church of Peace, Platteville. Charlotte enjoyed doing embroidery, word search puzzles, watching birds, and people dancing to polka music. She is survived by her daughter, Susan, (John) Hrubes of Platteville; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Andrew) Paulsen of Dickeyville, WI; Sarah (Jesse) Kennedy of DePere, WI; Alan (Sarah) Hrubes of Fitchburg, WI; four great-grandchildren, Carson, Charlotte, and Cecelia Kennedy and Lilyan Paulsen; sisters-in-law, Carol Edge and Dorothy Edge of Platteville; Pearl Schultz of Belmont, WI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, John and Walter Edge.
