Obituary

Larry G. Johnson, 67, of Platteville, formerly of Shullsburg, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 17 at University Hospital, Madison, WI after suffering a massive stroke.
Larry was born on December 13, 1948 in Platteville, Wisconsin, son of Delbert and Bethyl Johnson. He graduated from Shullsburg High School in 1967. For over 30 years he worked the family farm in rural Shullsburg. For the next 17 years, Larry worked for Gro Alliance. This was a job he took very seriously and he was known as a man who was "all business.” He served as Chairman and Supervisor for the Town of Shullsburg for more than 20 years. He was a member of the Southwest Auto Club and an avid Packer and Badger fan. Larry was an artist and craftsman who could create, make and build anything he set his mind to. He was a man of great faith who had a kind and giving heart. His final gifts were a donation of his tissue, bone and eyes.
Larry is survived by his mother, Betty Johnson of Janesville, WI; four sisters, Karla Kuhls of Winnebago, IL; Cheri (John) Saarinen of Roscoe, IL; Darlene (Jim) Judd of The Villages, FL; Kathy (Kevin) Rogers of Milton, WI, three sons, Shawn Johnson of West Allis, WI; Jason (Holli) Johnson of Darlington, WI; Joshua (Bridget) Johnson of Chicago; their mother, Brenda; four grandchildren, Kyler, Alyza, Anyka and Kynrk Johnson; who were the true pride and joy of his life. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many wonderful friends and his faithful companion, Cleo. Larry was preceded in death by his father, Delbert in 2007.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 23, 2016 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeffrey Meyer will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 22, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, 1245 N.
