Geraldine L. Rako, 78, of Arthur, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at Southwest Health Center Hospital, Platteville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Mike Short will officiate. Burial will be at the Arthur Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, or after 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Friday. Geraldine was born on September 20, 1937 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin, daughter of Victor and Irene (Mundon) Severson. She was united in marriage to Norbert E. Rako on October 2, 1957 in Dubuque. He preceded her in death on December 22, 1994. Geraldine graduated from Livingston High School she then attended Madison Business College. For over thirty years she worked at Dunn & Bradstreet in Dubuque. After her retirement she worked at Vinnie's Sports Spot, Platteville, helping her son, Mark “Vinnie”. She enjoyed following her children and grandchildren in their school activities for many years. She always enjoyed her time at the casino gambling in Dubuque. Geraldine mostly cherished spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by three children, Mark “Vinnie” (Marcia) Rako of Platteville; Vickie Rako of Dubuque; Kelly (Bernie) Alt of Lone Rock, WI; twelve grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Cue of Hazel Green, WI; three nephews, Tim, Kevin and Bill Cue and families; cousins, Rose & Bill Weber, Lila & Eldon Salway, and John Gebhart; special friends, Arkie Specht and GraceAnn Burkhardt. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, cousin, Harriett Gebhart and special friend, Marie Specht.
