Kathryn A. Poller, 65, of Platteville, died on Monday, March 7, 2016 at Southwest Health Center, with her family by her side. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Deacon Bill Bussan will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Kathryn A. Poller Memorial Fund. Kathy was born on March 27, 1950 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of John and Florence (Faherty) Gardner. She was united in marriage to Clayton Poller on February 6, 1971 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. Kathy grew up working at Ed's Café, starting in 1959; then she and Clayton bought in together in 1974 and operated the café until they retired in 2012. Kathy was a Girl Scout Leader for 8 years and was also a member of the St. Mary's Altar Society for 10 years. The greatest pride of her life though was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Clayton, of Platteville; three children, Tammi (Scott) Jantzen of Platteville and their children, Jessica and Steven, and his daughter Alivia; Jamie Poller of Platteville; Brad (Sandra) Poller of Cookeville, TN and their daughter Aubree; three brothers, Jack (Barb) Gardner of Las Cruces, NM; Dr. Jim (Kathy) Gardner of Waukesha, WI; and Dennis Gardner of Louisville, CO; four sisters, Joyce (Jim) Burkholder of Madison, WI; Jean Gardner of Madison; Joan (Harry) Smith of Janesville, WI; and Mary Moffett of Lake City, FL; two sisters-in-law, Nancy (Bob) Carns of Benton, WI and Rita (Bob) Chase of Platteville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law, Patricia Hayden; brother-in-law, Dr. James “Doc” Moffett.
