U.S. VeteranJohn J. Tippett, 65, of Rewey, died on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at St. Philomena Catholic Church, Belmont, WI. Father Jim Leeser will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Galena, IL. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the John J. Tippett Memorial Fund. Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

John was born on October 11, 1950 in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, son of Robert and Marita (Staver) Tippett. John served in the United States Army Reserves. He worked as a meat cutter at Knebel's Processing in Belmont for 10 years. After working at Knebel's he went to work at University of Wisconsin Platteville in the maintenance department from 1979-1997. John enjoyed hunting and fishing as well. He is survived by five sisters, Joan Lee of Belmont; Mary (Tom) Cooper of Dubuque, IA; Margaret (Marc) Bonin of Platteville; Dolores (James) Young of LaCrosse, WI; and Bernadine Young of Terrytown, LA; two brothers, Francis (Jayne) Tippett and LaVerne (Elaine) Tippett, both of Belmont; brother-in-law, Arnold Jr. Alt of Cuba City; and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Robert; sister, Lucille Alt; sister-in-law, Donna Tippett; and brothers-in-law, Clarence Lee and Peter Young.
