I have many good memories of Al ever since I was a scout. Trips with the Explorers were lots of fun and Al made sure we learned things. We all should be grateful for the years of service he gave to protect the wildlife and nature. Maybe he and my Dad are planning a fishing trip right now.

In 1974 I was assigned to Al for my first training assignment after being hired as a warden.....Al was very just great to the newbie who came from the north and had never experienced the river and southwest Wisconsin. He got a kick out of my bringing him a road killed possum, thinking it was a rare find and commenting on the albino blue heron I saw on the river. A lot of water has gone down the WIsconsin and Mississippi in the years since, but I'll never forget Al's taking me under his wing.

Condolences to the family of Albert Kwallek. I am one of the daughters of Oliver Valley. My dad worked with Al for many years as a warden in Grant county. I maybe met Pat once, but we never had much communication with the rest of Al's family. I do remember all the excitement when Al began dating and then married Pat. They had along life together. I remembering Al helping at the time of Oliver's death. I was the youngest of three girls (Now 75) and 16 years after me was our younger sister Dawn. Carol is in St. Paul MN, Rita in Moyock, NC, and Dawn in Great Falls, MT. Best Wishes to all. Jan McPherson
