Robert Haney

Robert W. "Bob" Haney, 85, of Platteville, died on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Manor Care Health Services, Platteville. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Deacon Bill Bussan will officiate. Burial will be at Rock Church Cemetery, Livingston. Friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory or from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Monday. Bob was born on May 26, 1931 in Platteville, WI, the son of Walter and Melda (Wagner) Haney. Bob attended Henry School in Union, Lima Township, after which he went to work on the family farm in Union. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Meyer on October 11, 1952 at the Platteville Methodist Church. Bob served his country for six years; he was in the Army National Guard from 1951-1953 and from 1955-1957 and he served active duty in the Army from 1953 to 1955. Bob worked at John Deere for 34 years, retiring in 1987. After retirement he drove cars for area car dealerships. He enjoyed square dancing, bowling, fishing, camping, tending to his garden, going to the senior center to play cards, and especially enjoyed visiting with friends at McDonalds and Burger King. Bob was a member of the Odd Fellow Lodge #6 where he was a Past Noble Grand. Bob is survived by his wife, Dorothy, of Platteville; three children, Randy (Jan) Haney, Linda (Arnie) Anderson, both of Platteville; Sheryl (Terry) Waller of Dickeyville; four grandchildren, Samie (fiancé, Joel Kirkpatrick) Miles, Jake (Laura) Anderson, Jessica Anderson, and Erik Haney; great-grandson, Eli Anderson; and brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Peg Meyer of Platteville. He was preceded in death by his parents.
