Obituary
Lloyd M. Tiedemann, 95, of Belmont, Wisconsin, died on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Our House Assisted Living, Platteville. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Joel Voss will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville, where military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Following the burial there will be a celebration of Lloyd's life at the Sport's Page, Belmont. Memorials may be made to the Lloyd M. Tiedemann Memorial Fund. Lloyd was born on August 9, 1921 in Elk Grove Township, son of Herman G. and Nora W. (Adickes) Tiedemann. He was united in marriage to Pauline “Sal” Davis on April 7, 1947 at St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Dubuque. “Sal” preceded him in death on May 30, 2007. Lloyd graduated from Belmont High School and attended Platteville Normal. He then went to the Chicago Technical College where he took a course in refrigeration. After finishing school Lloyd served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was stationed on the USS Essex serving in the Pacific and Asian Theaters. Lloyd owned and operated Tiedemann's Home Utilities in Belmont for many years and he also farmed in Elk Grove Township, where he and “Sal” raised their family. He was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Platteville, the American Legion, VFW, Belmont Lions Club and Belmont Volunteer Fire Department. He loved meeting people and was a “jack of all trades” and enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his four children, Tom (Al) Tiedemann of Lakewood, CO; Bonnie (Doug) Knutson of Nekoosa, WI; Jeri (Rick) Weittenhiller of Belmont; Rick (Jennifer) Tiedemann of Verona, WI; seven grandchildren, Carrie (Jeff) Puls, Brent (Dana) Weittenhiller, Tobin (Cheryl) Knutson, Blake (Britt) Knutson, Geoffrey (Nikisha) Knutson, Emily and Rachel Tiedemann; 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, sister, Ruth Tiedemann and brother, George Tiedemann.
