Lori Jean Melssen, 51, of Platteville died on Friday, September 30, 2016 at her home after a long illness. Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Lori was born on March 20, 1965 in Platteville daughter of Don and Dorothy (Carpenter) Gard. She was united in marriage to Eric Melssen on September 28, 2013 in Arthur, Wisconsin. Lori worked at Land's End and later at Farm & Fleet, Platteville. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1983. She enjoyed the Packers, gardening and especially going on motorcycle rides with Eric. She found her greatest joy was being with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband, Eric of Platteville; four children, Cara (Mike Beyer) Bartels of Platteville; Kyle (Danielle Gerhards) Bartels of Potosi, WI; Travis Bartels of Darlington, WI; Dalton Melssen of Platteville; one grandson, Jack Bartels. She was preceded in death by her parents.
