Fern was born on January 20, 1927 in Mifflin Township, Iowa County daughter to Walter and Emma (Mueller) Knebel.  When she was seven years old the family moved to a farm near Elk Grove, Wisconsin.  She attended West School and the Belmont High School where she graduated in 1945.

Fern was united in marriage to Carl E. Bockhop on January 24, 1948.  He preceded her in death on June 2, 2008.  Two children were born to this union, Connie and Bill Bockhop.  She and Carl farmed northeast of Belmont for 24 years.  After retiring from farming they moved to their home in Belmont in 1972.  They always found time to travel taking Connie and Bill along when they were young.  Later they spent many winters in Rio Grande Valley, Texas.  Fern and Carl also enjoyed many summers reuniting with Carl's Army buddies over the years.  Fern and Carl were glad to have so many good memories together throughout their marriage.

My sincere condolences to the family for the loss of your dear loved one. May you find comfort and hope from the Bible promise at Isaiah 25:8 that in the near future God (Psalms 83:18) will eliminate forever, death and the sufferings that it brings. So draw close to God in prayers and lean on Him as you cope during this most difficult time.
