Pastor Peter Brayko, 90, of Platteville, died on Monday December 5, 2016 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2016 at New Hope Assembly of God Church, where chapel military rites will be accorded by VFW Post #5274 and American Legion Post #42.  Pastor Mike Majeski will officiate.  Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.  The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family.  Memorials may be made to the Peter Brayko Memorial Fund.  Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Peter was born on June 24, 1926 in Scobey, Montana, the son of Onfrey and Mary (Stefanek) Brayko.  He was united in marriage to Lois Crowl on May 24, 1947 at the North Central Bible University in Minneapolis, MN. In 1948 Peter and Lois moved to Platteville and planted the New Hope Assembly of God Church, which they pastored for 26 years.  During this time Peter also worked full time at Grant County Social Services until his retirement.  Peter enjoyed living on their farmette in Platteville Township where they raised Herefords.  He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and tending to his flower and vegetable gardens.  Peter is survived by his wife, Lois, of 69 years; two daughters, Deborah Shonka of Hayward, WI and Heidi Kenitz of Indianapolis, IN; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents; son, David, in 1988; and nine siblings.

Pastor Brayko, Was our youth pastor, and we got to be friends with his children as well, He was such a sweet loving man of God, He will be missed by so many.
