Maxine E. “Max” Haney, 83, of Platteville, died on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Lancaster. Funeral services will be 12:00 p.m. (Noon) Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Jeff Pedersen will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Maxine was born on January 5, 1934 in Platteville, Wisconsin, daughter of Everett and Leona (Austin) Mueller. She was united in marriage to Clayton C. Haney on January 5, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa. He preceded her in death on October 25, 1992. Max worked at Hearthside Hotel, Michaels Supper Club and then at Berg Pharmacy, Platteville, for many years until she retired. She enjoyed tending to her flowers and gardening.
She is survived by two sons, Gary (Beverly) Haney and Gene (Jane) Haney all of Platteville; 8 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; significant other, Nathan “Nate” Swallow of Platteville; four sisters, Pat Hopp, Jan (Kenny) Van Egtern, Chris (Ed) Doescher, and Carla (Roger) Sell; four brothers, Roger Mueller, Donnie (DiAnna) Mueller, Mike (Bev) Mueller and Ed (Dawn) Mueller; sisters-in-law, Karen Mueller and Rita Livingston; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, twin sister, Marcene Gundlach and sister, Marilyn “Pootsie” Ryman and brother, Royce Mueller, brother-in-law, Dayton “Doc” Hopp.
