Evelyn Butson

Evelyn E. Butson, 97, of Platteville, found peace on Wednesday, February 8, 2017, when she went to join her mama, dad, brother, and husband.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Rev. Brenda Whitford will officiate.  Burial will be at Whig Cemetery.  Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, or from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Monday.  Memorials may be made to the Evelyn E. Evelyn was born on September 1, 1919 in Beetown Township, the daughter of Frank and Alice (Heigl) Atkinson.  She began her education at Slabtown/Flora Fountain School before moving into Lancaster.  In 1932, Evelyn and her family moved to Platteville where she graduated from Platteville High School in 1938.  Evelyn was united in marriage to Harry E. Butson on October 24, 1938 and together they worked the family Century Farm.  Harry preceded her in death on June 25, 2002.  Evelyn worked at Sears in Platteville from 1963 until her retirement in 1984.  She worked and met many people who became very good friends. 

Memories of Evelyn will be cherished by all who loved her including her son, Jerry (Mary Ann) Butson of Platteville; four grandchildren, Mark (Ruby) Butson of Argyle, WI and their son, Jason (Kasa) Riley of Argyle, and their children, Jacob, Mackenzie, and Mia; Mike (Gina) Butson of Argyle, and their children, Amanda (Kyle) Saxe of Mt. Horeb, WI, Stacie Butson and her son, Ezra, of Darlington, WI; Kimberly Oxenreider of Monroe, WI, and her children, Emma (fiancé, Dan Lawson) and Ross; and Heather (Mark) Damm of Hazel Green, and their children, McKenzie and Katelyn; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Lyle (Mary) Atkinson.
