Very sad to learn that one of my first theatre mentors, Dr Thomas S Goltry, former professor of theatre at UW-Platteville, & Associate Director of the now closed Wisconsin Shakespeare Festival for 23 yrs, passed away. We met in 1970 when he cast me as one of the leads in the first play he directed at Platteville, "The Firebugs", & theatre came into my life to stay, just like that... Not only a great teacher, he also loved his family deeply, & my condolences to Carole, Scott, Ann, & the rest of his family. Hundreds of his former students are currently thinking, "He was my favorite teacher!" He is greatly missed. RIP, Doc...

Carole, Scott and Anne, My sincere sympathies to you. I first met Tom as a student in the theatre department of UW-Platteville. His patience, enthusiasm and sense of humor made him one of my favorite professors. And he was an occasional customer of mine at Helker Jewelry , who I so enjoyed waiting on when he was shopping for something special. He will be remembered by many for the kind gentleman he was. May you find peace. Kay
