Having just read the recent Melby obituaries at a library computer in Peoria, I was so saddened to read of Cliff's passing...he was such a gentleman devoted to his family, and his late wife Marion VanNatta, was my beloved third grade teacher at the original Brick School...I remember when she taught and how inspirational she was to me as Cliff had gone into the service...we would chat on the phone when I was home from Peoria and remember also that Marion and I were concerned about the history of the Brick School and the fire that destroyed it...I do know he was a UWP men's basketball fan as am I, and I also remember leaving a team ball in Cuba City several years ago when he was there. Please accept my deepest sympathy in the loss of one of Platteville's finest and I just regret I can't pay my respect to the family as I won't be in Platteville at that time...the family property is on the other side of Madison Street..having cared for my late mom, Zelma Schuldt, I can empathize with the remaining family and what you going through at this time. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and God bless! Respectfully, Carolyn Schuldt PHS 1960 UWP 1964

We are so lucky to have been able to share part of Clifford's life. He was a gentle caring man always with a wonderful smile who seemed genuinely glad to see us every time we met. We are happy he is at peace.
