Obituary

Mary Louise Baxter, 64, of DePere, WI, formerly of Platteville, WI passed to eternal life, while surrounded by family, on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville.  Father Faustino Ruiz and Monsignor Charles Schluter will officiate.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Platteville.  Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Mary L. Mary was born on March 23, 1952 in Platteville, WI, the daughter of Kenneth and Carol Denn.  She married the love of her life, John Baxter, on June 5, 1971 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Platteville, WI.  John preceded her in death on November 13, 2005.  Mary had a strong Catholic faith and prayed the Rosary until her last breath. 

Mary was most proud of her children and grandchildren.  She loved to watch them participate in sporting events and concerts.  Mary will be remembered for the wonderful quilts that she made for her loved ones.  Mary was an artist and had a talent for painting and sketching beautiful pictures.  She was always there to lend a helping hand when it was needed.   Mary enjoyed reading, sewing, painting, and shopping with the girls.  She will be greatly missed.

Mary is survived by her five children, Dan (Charity) Baxter of Platteville, Michelle Ronyak of DePere, Nicole (Dave) Gibson of Green Bay, Angie (Scott) Majerus of Hazel Green, and Doug (Laura) Baxter of Wausau; 16 grandchildren, Michaela, Danny, Jamie, Austin, Logan, Samantha, Andrew, Victoria, John, Luke, Jordan, Taylor, Jacob, McKinley, Charlotte, and Adaline; her brother, Mike(Brenda) Denn of Platteville, and a sister Kathy Fairchild; five sisters-in-law, Judy Welch and Joan Rooney of Dubuque, IA, Janet (Arnie) Roper of Platteville, Joyce (Dennis) McPhail of Darlington, Julie (Bill) Snyder of Wayzata, MN, brother-in-law, Patrick Malone of Benton,  uncle, Orville Goke of Platteville and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Austin and Margaret Baxter, and sister-in-law, Jean Malone.

I'm so sorry to hear of Mary's death. She was such a great person. I always enjoyed talking to her when we lived in Platteville. It sounds like she has such a lovely family......thinking of you all at this time of sadness. Pam
