Paul G. Spink, age 90, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2017 at Oakwood Village East, Madison WI under Heartland Hospice Care. Paul was born in Platteville, WI on July 10, 1926, the son of Clarence and Mildred (Riege) Spink. Paul received his primary and secondary education in Platteville, where he met his future wife, Devona Weittenhiller. Upon completion of his service in the U.S. Navy in 1946, Paul enrolled in the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he would later earn a degree in electrical engineering. On August 14, 1947, Paul and Devona were married, and following their graduations from UW, Paul was employed as an electronics engineer by the Westinghouse Electric Corporation; first in Pittsburgh, PA and then moving to Anne Arundel County MD in 1951. Paul was awarded a scholarship and sabbatical by Westinghouse to pursue graduate studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA in 1957-58, after which he returned to Maryland. In the following years, Paul worked on many projects for Westinghouse, where he was an expert on sonar applications and fluid flow measurement. Paul and Devona lived in Maryland for 39 years, where they raised their three sons. Paul retired from Westinghouse in 1987, and in 1990 he and Devona returned to Wisconsin, most recently living at Oakwood Village East in Madison. Devona preceded him, passing on June 23, 2012.

Paul had many hobbies and interests, including music (both big-band and classical), history, genealogy, and sports, being an avid and loyal fan of the Badgers, Packers and Brewers. Paul treasured his time with his family, as they did with him. Paul has always been an inspiration to his family, friends and those around him for his honesty, courtesy, his strong sense of right and wrong and his compassion for those less fortunate.

Paul Spink is survived by his brother, Charles Spink and his wife Libby Kowalski of Brooklyn, NY; son, William Spink and his wife Valerie of Fort Collins, CO; son, David Spink and his wife Barbara of Castleton, NY; son, Steven Spink of Madison, WI; grandson, Andrew Spink of Geneva, NY; granddaughter, Elizabeth Spink of Cambridge, MA; grandson Bryan Weinman of Denver, CO; and granddaughter Jennifer Weinman of Fort Collins, CO.

A memorial gathering for family and friends to celebrate Paul's life will take place at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance for Mental Illness (nami.org) in Paul's name.
