Fritz Voigts

Fritz “Frederick” C. Voigts, 58, of Platteville, died on Monday, April 10, 2017 at Southwest Health Center, Platteville.  Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Deacon Bill Bussan will officiate.  Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday.  Memorials may be made to the Fritz Voigts Memorial Fund.  Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Fritz was born in Platteville, Wisconsin, on June 15, 1958, the son of Homer J. and Della Mae (Sornberger) Voigts.  During high school he was a member of FFA and was also a Boy Scout, where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout.  He graduated from Platteville High School in 1976.  Fritz was united in marriage to Becki Schuppener on June 25, 1977. He was a lifelong farmer, which was a great passion to him.  He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and the Knights of Columbus.  Fritz enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his son, Jason, bowling, golfing, cooking, and playing cards and softball.  He was an avid Packer, Badgers, and Brewer's fan.  Fritz also loved to socialize; he could meet a new friend every day.  Though his greatest love was his family; his children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Fritz is survived by his wife, Becki; two children, Jessica (Ryan) Leibfried, and their children, Ashlyn and Jenna Leibfried; and Jason (Sara) Voigts and their children, Gavin and Aiden Voigts; four siblings, Joann (Jim) Myers, Lois (Larry) Bartling, Dee (Joe) Robbins, and Jack (Marcy) Voigts; mother-in-law, Dolores Schuppener; brothers-in-law, Bruce (Deb) Schuppener and Mark (Linda) Schuppener; as well as, many other extended family.  He was preceded in death by his parents; father-in-law, Neil Schuppener; and sister-in-law, Karen Schuppener.
