Roy's Family, I'm sorry to hear of Roys passing. I sang with him in the funeral choir for many years, and always saw him in church, and even this Good Friday. He always had a good story or joke to tell. RIP

Roy was such an inspiration for the junior high students I took to mass each week! He was always fully invested in the songs and readings. It was a pleasure meeting him and seeing him at every mass. We miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I saw Roy at 0800 Mass at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Madison the Saturday before Holy Week. He was using a walker, moving slow, and, frankly, did not look very good. He was attempting to get a bag full of rosaries blessed but could not easily make the climb into the sanctuary. Frances, one of the Saturday morning regulars, ran into the sacristy for him, got Fr. Greg Ihm, who blessed the rosaries. Frances then helped Roy down the sanctuary step into the nave as Stations of the Cross were beginning. I was concerned when Roy did not show up for 0800 Mass last Saturday, April 22. I made a mental note to try to find his telephone number and call him. Today (April 24), Tom Delaney handed me a funeral card with Roy's photo. This was the first I had heard of his dying. All of us at Holy Redeemer who got the news today were quite shocked, both by his sudden death, and that so much time had passed without the word getting out. My condolences to his family. Roy's regular presence at Catholic churches around Madison will be missed. May he rest in the Peace of Christ.
