Bonnie was born on April 30, 1935 on the home farm in Elk Grove Township, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, the daughter of LaVerne and Mary (Sheffer) Wilson.  She was united in marriage to Ellsworth “Ellsy” Simmons on December 4, 1954 at the Cuba City United Methodist Church.  He preceded her in death on August 28, 2008.  Bonnie graduated from Cuba City High School in 1953 and from the University of Wisconsin Platteville in 1976.  She went into business with her sister Betty in 1978 where they owned and operated H&R Block for 17 years.  She then went on to manage the Platteville Schools Credit Union, later known as the Rountree Credit Union, until her retirement in 2000.  Bonnie was an avid Wisconsin sports fan, including the Packers, Badgers, and Platteville Pioneers.  In her earlier years Bonnie enjoyed bowling, golfing, and time spent with her and Ellsy's card club.  In her later years, she enjoyed water painting, playing cards, traveling to Florida, but most of all, time spent with family and friends.  Bonnie was a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Bonnie is survived by six children, Wayne (Cathy) Simmons of Platteville; John (Joanie) Simmons of Little Falls, MN; Brenda (Tim) Stanton of Platteville; Dean (Mary) Simmons of Platteville; Sue (Jon) Lindholm of Platteville; and Vonda (Roger) Lange of Platteville; sixteen grandchildren, Jason (Kelsie) Simmons, Ryan Simmons, Alyssa (Jake) Kieler, Chelsey (Tony) Skaj, Colin (Angie) Simmons, Dan Stanton, Steve Stanton, Adam Stanton, Emily Simmons, William Simmons, Sara Bescup, Jacob (Jessica) Lindholm, Katelyn (Matthew) McLaughlin, Jessica (special friend, Bradley) Lange, Tiffany (fiancé, Greg Line) Lange, and Brandon (special friend, KD) Lange; ten great-grandchildren,  Mia and Ty Simmons, Austin Simmons, Baby Kieler, Laynie Jo Simmons, Jackson Bescup, Jon Lindholm, Peyton and Zoey Lindholm, and Baby McLaughlin; four siblings, Bruce (Karen) Wilson, Betty (Donald) Loeffelholz, Keith (Tama) Wilson, and Sandra (John) Irace; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVerne and Mary and husband, Ellsworth.  The family would like to thank Pastor Brenda from the United Methodist Church and also all of the nursing staff that cared for Bonnie, including the nurses at Southwest Health Center, Epione Pavilion, Manor Care, Meriter, and the EMTs for Southwest Health.

Hi, My sincere sympathy to the Simmons family. I loved Betty...she was a dear woman to my previous husband, Andy Wimer, and to me. We always felt welcomed by Elsie and her whenever we saw them at Pioneer games, H & R Block events or when I was working with Sue. I will be holding you all in my heart and prayers during this sad time.

I learned of your mom's passing yesterday when I talked to Sue at the UWP...please accept my deepest sympathy and empathy in the loss of your mom...mine, Zelma Schuldt (for whom your late father often did work) passed 10 years and I miss her daily. When I am "home" and drive to Lancaster, I go by your former family farm and think of you and my grandparents' farm in New Glarus, where I spent many childhood days. I shall remember her from church and being a "neat" lady so devoted to her family....Mothers are very special ladies, indeed. Thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. I regret my schedule doesn't permit my coming to Platteville to pay my respects.l Carolyn Schuldt PHS 1960 UwP 1964
