Carolyn (Kay) L. Hampton, 73, of Potosi, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Grant Regional Health Center, Lancaster. Private family graveside services will be held at Rock Church Cemetery, Livingston, Wisconsin. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Kay was born on October 15, 1943 in Platteville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Waterman) Kopp. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1962 and was united in marriage to Clarence Hampton Sr. on June 23, 1962 at the Platteville United Methodist Church. Kay enjoyed crafting, scrap booking, and camping. She loved her dogs Buddy and Bella, though her greatest love was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; they were her pride and joy.
Kay is survived by her husband of 55 years, Clarence, of Potosi; two children, Clarence Hampton Jr. of Lancaster, and Carrie (Tom) Taylor of Potosi; eight grandchildren, Natalie Hampton, Shauna Birkett, Krysthol (Brad) Davis, Jon Kauffman, Jaymes Kauffman, Karysa (fiancé, Jacob Helmrick) Taylor, Kristin (Mike) Schmidt, and Kaet Taylor; four great-grandchildren, Liam and Sawyer Davis, Cyrus Birkett, and Anthony Taylor; sister-in-law, Evelyn Krohn. She was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Bobbie Kay in 1963; and two sisters, Belva (Pete) Watters and Lorraine Woody.
