Dona M. Lofy, 80, of Platteville, died on Wednesday, August 9 at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. A mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at St. Philomena Church in Belmont. Fr. Jim Leeser will officiate. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet in Milwaukee, WI. Friends may call from 5:00 -8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville or from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Dona was born on September 12, 1936, in Germantown to Wilbur and Lorraine (Ruehl) Hensler. She was united in marriage to Francis (Frank) Lofy on May 11, 1963 in West Allis, and moved to Platteville in 1967. She graduated from West Bend High School in 1954. Dona was a member of St. Philomena Church in Belmont and prior to that a member of St. Mary's Church in Platteville.
Dona will be remembered for her commitment to volunteering. She was a volunteer for Grant County Hospice for 25 years. She was also a volunteer driver for Grant County, a Meal on Wheels volunteer, a volunteer for St. Mary's Explorer Post, and a volunteer for the Hospital Auxiliary in Platteville. She proudly gave of her time for the Grant County Commission on Aging and the Wisconsin Badger Camp board.
Dona is survived by three children, Pete (Jolene) Lofy of Colorado Springs, CO; Mary (Jeff) Blahnik of Manitowoc, WI; Patrick (Christine) Lofy of Alexandria, VA; Daughter-in-law Meadow (Atkinson) Lofy; five grandchildren Scott, Nathan, Lauren, Nicholas, and Max; sister Helene Kilian of Cambria, WI; brother Dennis Hensler of Slinger, WI; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank in 2014, her son Paul in 2017, and brother Huntz in 2015.
The family would like to thank those who cared for Dona at Epione Pavilion and Medical Associates in Cuba City, as well as the kind and compassionate staff of Grant County Hospice.
