Marvin Fox

Marvin Charles Fox, 71, of Platteville, died on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at UW Hospital, Madison.  Funeral services will be at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) on Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville.  Burial will be at Harrison Cemetery at a later date.  Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Marvin Fox Memorial Fund.  Online condolences may be made at www.melbyfh.com.

Marvin was born on December 15, 1945 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the son of Arnold and Ruby (Tremelling) Fox. Marvin graduated from Platteville High School in 1964 and then attended Southwest Technical College.  He was united in marriage to Betty Brawner on June 20, 1987 at St. Augustine University Parish, Platteville.  She preceded him in death on November 15, 2010.  Marvin worked for John Deere Dubuque Works for over 30 years.  He was an excellent mechanic and heavy equipment operator.  He enjoyed collecting antique cars, as well as, restoring antique cars.  Marvin was a big history buff; he could answer any history question you may have, especially in regards to the Civil War.  He also had a great love for his animals.

Marvin is survived by his patient and loving sister, Joan (Doug) Harvey of Juneau, AK; two nephews, Jerrod (Mackenzie) Harvey and their children, Lupine and Lake of Eagle River, AK; and Logan (Stephanie) Harvey and their children, Eli and Nolan of Juneau, AK; his ornery cat, Sammy; and many dear friends who were so helpful and kind over the years.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Betty.
