Marlene was born on February 23, 1956 in Lancaster, Wisconsin, the daughter of Gerald and Geraldine (Fritz) Reuter.  She was united in marriage to Richard Allen on December 22, 1977 in Lancaster.  Marlene worked as a CNA for quite a few years, beginning at Pine Valley Manor, then Orchard Manor for a number of years, and then she worked for Homeward Bound doing private care.  After working as a CNA, Marlene went to school to become a truck driver.  She then went to work for Tschiggfrie Excavating in Dubuque, Iowa, where she worked for 10 years.  She and Rick also ran the Potosi American Legion for a couple years before she went to work with Rick at Grantland Safety Inspections. Marlene enjoyed quilting, baking, flowers, and fishing; she could sit on the river bank for hours and fish, and would just be happy to be there, even if the fish weren't biting.  She also enjoyed her many fish tanks at her home.  But most of all, Marlene loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

Marlene is survived by her husband of 40 years, Rick; three daughters, Megen (Charles) Kinyon, Bobbi (Michael) Brown, and Betty-Jo Allen; five grandchildren, Taylor Vergeront, Elijah Kelly, Kami Kedley, Destiny Brown, and Colby Brown; seven siblings, Sally (Vincent) Loeffelholz, Marilyn (Robert) Ward, Randy (Jane) Reuter, Junior (Ruth) Reuter, Rod (Joan) Reuter, Rockie (Brenda) Reuter, and Roland (Chris) Reuter; mother-in-law, Darlene Henry; step-mother-in-law, Susan Allen; six brothers and sisters-in-law, Dennis (Dee) Allen, James (Hatsumi) Allen, Marty (Karie) Allen, Kay (Dave) Dean, Dale (Lisa) Allen, and April Allen; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; father-in-law, Dale Allen; son, Jason Kelly on June 11, 2016; brothers-in-law, Roger and Bob Allen; and nephew, Austin Reuter.
