Helen R. Roddick, 97, of Middleton, formerly of Platteville, Wisconsin, died on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Attic Angel Place in Middleton. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 13, 2017, at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Rev. Brenda Whitford will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. Helen was born and raised on the family farm in Lima Township, Grant County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Dan and Alice (Clifton) Roddick. Helen graduated from Platteville High School in 1939 and began working for the United States Armed Forces Institute in Madison and later in Rockford, from which she retired. Helen enjoyed traveling and taking bus trips, one of her favorite places to visit was Washington D.C., where she loved to visit the congressional libraries. She was a member of the Platteville United Methodist Church and was a very proud UW Badger Basketball fan. Helen is survived by two nieces and a nephew, Janice (Dick) Jewel of Harlingen, TX; Jim (Peg) Roddick of Eagle River, WI; and Karla (Glen) Picton of Harlingen, TX; and many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Guerdon (Bertha) Roddick and Clifford (Doris) Roddick; and nephew, Larry Roddick.
