Dorothy Goetz

Dorothy M. Goetz, 87, of Platteville, passed away peacefully in her sleep, on Monday, February 26, 2018 at home. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Dorothy loved the Lord and is now free from pain and ailments, resting comfortably in the arms of Jesus. The memorial service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Community Evangelical Free Church, Platteville. Pastor Jason Sasse will officiate. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the church. The Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, is serving the family. Memorials may be made to the Dorothy M. Goetz Memorial Fund. Dorothy was born on March 4, 1930 in Grafenthin, East Prussia, Germany daughter of Herrmann and Greta Helene (Bruehn) Goetz. Dorothy worked at Gould National Battery, St. Paul, Minnesota for 24 years. She also worked at Local Union 169, Swiss Colony, and Sears. She attended the Community Evangelical Free Church, Platteville. Dorothy was an avid gardener, affectionately known to many as “the Tomato Lady.” She raised 1200 tomato plants annually and sold and gave them away to many people throughout the years. She was very fond of her garden and flowers. She also loved feeding the birds (and squirrels), watching butterflies and hummingbirds in her flowers, and going fishing.

She is survived by her daughter, Ramona (Randy Coller) Lindholm; five grandchildren, Nicole (Jake) Kamps, Robert Martinson, Joseph Lindholm, Travis Coller and Olivia Lange; two great-grandchildren, Oakley and Easton Kamps; two brothers, Rudy (Sandra) Borrmann and Hans (Deborah) Borrmann, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ilselore Craig and brother-in-law, William Craig.
