John K. Dobson, 81, of Platteville, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, Rev. Cheryl Weaver will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Platteville. Chapel Military Rites will be accorded by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post #5274. Friends may call from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, or from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the John K. John was born February 15, 1937 in Belmont, Wisconsin, son of Dennis and Bernita (Martin) Dobson. Early in life John served in the United States Army during the Korean War. John owned and operated M and R Trucking with Marlene Bloom. John enjoyed traveling, mostly to Washington DC and Florida for the winter. He spent a lot of time playing cards, games, camping and with family.
John is survived by Marlene Bloom, five daughters, Julie (Wesley) Suddeth, Deb (Mark) Henry, Jodi (Josh) Fitzsimons, Denise (Rodney) Fend, Lori (Stephen) Gibson; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters, Deloris Sanbi, Barb (Duane) Brooks, Karen Cue and one brother, Charles Dobson, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, Thomas, and grandson, Dakota.
