Gary was born on April 26, 1950 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Orville C. and Betty J. (Ring) Baker. He graduated from Platteville High School in 1968. He was united in marriage to Sandy Lee on February 1, 1975 in Platteville. Gary farmed the home farm for many years. Later on he worked at Pete's Feed Service and then Jim's Building Center. He was also a member of SWTEA Horse Association for many years. Gary enjoyed horse shoe pitching and loved AC/DC and dancing. Gary will be remembered most for always being the life of the party! He could always make people laugh with his many famous saying. Gary loved spending time with his Crystal Lake (Lodi, WI) family but Gary's favorite thing of all was time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his wife, Sandy; four children, Corrie (DJ) Johnson, Jobie (Ryan) Hauber, Billie Jo (Sean Barber) Baker, and Beau (Heather) Baker; seven grandchildren, Kaden, Rhen, Nevaeh, Rallie, and Malaya Hauber, and Ainsley and Rowdy Baker; three sisters, Judy Baker, Kim Lipska, and Jan (Al) Brame; two brothers, Jeff (Renee) Baker and Tony (Kathy) Brandemuehl; brother-in-law, Ted (Dee) Lee; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew, Eddy Lipska.

Baker family, I feel very blessed to have had the pleasure of taking care of Gary while he was at ManorCare. You’re family was very kind to all of us, and we couldn’t have loved Gary anymore. He was definitely one of a kind, and I will forever cherish the conversations and the time spent with him forever and ever. He was the kind to make you laugh without even trying. Thank you for putting your trust in our facility. Your entire family is in my thoughts and prayers. With love, Mariah Wiegel.

Sandy and Baker family, Marie and I want to extend our condolences at the news of Gary's death. Knowing what we do about your clan from Bill and Kate and from our own interactions over the years we know there will be a ton of good memories shared. He was simply a fun and good person. I hope it works out that we will be able to attend any celebration of his life when the time comes. If not we will certainly tip a cold one in his memory. Gary was one of the good ones who will be remembered by a lot of people. We are keeping your family in our thoughts. Bob and Marie Kliebenstein Tomah
