William A. “Bill” Jackson, 79, of Cuba City, died on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City. Friends may call from 1:00-3:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville. Military rites will be accorded at 3:00 p.m. by American Legion Post #42 and VFW Post 5274 with memorial service to follow immediately, celebrated by Rev. Brenda Whitford. Bill was born on November 10, 1938 in Platteville, Wisconsin, son of William Henry and Iva Mae (Stanton) Jackson. He was united in marriage to Rose Hazard on August 10, 1963 in Madison, Wisconsin. Bill graduated from Platteville High School and served in the United States Air Force as a missile technician. After returning from the service, he began his 40 year career at John Deere Dubuque Works. He enjoyed fishing, researching genealogy and playing a good game of euchre. He was a man of integrity and commitment that carried through all facets of his life.
Bill was a member of the Grant County Genealogical Society, the Whig Cemetery Association and the Cuba City Lions Club. He particularly enjoyed helping out with the Lions Club cookouts and events at Epione Pavilion.
Bill valued his family above all else. As a husband, father and grandfather, he provided love and support that was unconditional.
Bill is survived by his wife, Rose; three daughters, Anne (Eric) Jaeckel, Caryn Jackson, and Kirsten (Steve) Johnson; two grandsons, Matthew and Nathaniel; one sister, Mary Lou (Ken) Mepham; two brothers, Jerry (Kathrine) Jackson and Robert (Sandra) Jackson; and nieces, nephews and special cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Henry and Iva Mae Jackson.
The family would like to thank the ICU and fifth floor staff at Finley Hospital in Dubuque as well as the staff at Epione Pavilion in Cuba City for the excellent care they provided and the compassion they displayed for Bill and the entire family.
