Doc was born on November 18, 1952 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Martha M. Robinson. As a child, he enjoyed his time as a Boy Scout. After graduating high school, Doc enlisted in the United States Navy in 1971 where he was a part of Seal Team Two, Delta Company. He served two tours in Vietnam. During his time in the service he received a Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and a Marksman Medal. He was honorably discharged in 1977 where he then served in the Naval Reserve. Doc was very proud to have been able to serve his country.
After returning home from the service, Doc attended the University of Wisconsin Platteville, where he served as Chapter Adviser for the TKE fraternity, as well as serving as a leader in Boy Scouts. During those 20 years, he was able to be a great mentor to many young men. Always looking for a challenge, Doc went back to school at the age of 58 where he obtained his degree in Graphic Design from Westwood College and was very proud that he did so with a 3.75 grade point average. Doc enjoyed woodworking, fixing and building things, telling stories and jokes, he always had a joke to tell, but he especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends. These past few years, he was a very proud owner of his house, where he dabbled in interior design, and enjoyed spending his days with his friends at Donny's in Reedsburg, WI.
Doc was preceded in death by his mom, Martha and brother, Bruce Hanson.
