Obituary
Dorothy L. Edge, 82, of Platteville died on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Southwest Health Center, Platteville. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Rev. Mike Short will officiate. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Platteville. Friends may call from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Melby Funeral Home & Crematory, Platteville, or after 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Dorothy was born on January 18, 1936 in Platteville daughter of Raymond and Mildred (Harms) Bellmeyer. She graduated from Platteville High School in 1953. Dorothy was united in marriage to Walter D. Edge on January 23, 1954 at First English Lutheran Church, Platteville. Walter preceded Dorothy in death on November 5, 2010. Dorothy worked for the County Seedman and later Montgomery Wards, Platteville, for many years. After she worked for various restaurants; Kabers and Arrow Inn in Lancaster, Arthur Haus in Arthur, and Hardee's and Taco John's in Platteville. While working at Taco John's, Dorothy was awarded “Senior Workforce Employee of the Year”, which she was very proud of. She was a member of First English Lutheran Church. She enjoyed square dancing, attending the Grant County Fair, for many years she did the food stand for the Mound City Saddle Club horse shows, which she belonged to. She was a former 4-H leader of the Jolly Platters with Walter.
She is survived by her three daughters, Sheri Engelke of Platteville; Karla (Ty) Witzig of Fennimore, WI; LouAnn (Steve) Adrian of Glen Haven, WI; seven grandchildren, Reed (Kari) Engelke, Jake (Amanda) Engelke, Ned (Danielle) Witzig, Tish (Korey) Burmeister, Nick (Jackie) Witzig, Adam (Angie) Adrian, and Emily (Dan) Lilla; 16 great-grandchildren, sister, MaryJo (Kenny) Kramer of Platteville; sister-in-law, Carol Edge of Platteville; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, grandson, Greg Adrian, sister, Carol Bellmeyer, sister-in-law, Charlotte Cullen, brother-in-law, John Edge.
